Hans Tischler

Dear CCMA friends,
We were all very sad to hear of the passing of Hans Tischler. one of CCMA's most loyal and hard-working friends. Hans and Eve List were founding members of our organization and Hans was president for many years. He and his wife Alice ran the organization and organized many wonderful concerts. Until just recently Hans could be relied upon to continue sharing his wisdom with the various presidents who followed his tenure. He was a wonderful man and we will miss him.
We are dedicating our March 13 concert to his memory and hope to have many of you there, either as performers or listeners.
If you would like to participate in the program, please contact me. Our new web address is http://www.ccmachamber.org. My blog is http://communitychambermusicassociation.blogspot.com/

Happy Back-to-School days for moms, dads, and students!
I am happy to greet you again and to bring you the news from CCMA:
Our activities this year include three concerts and a youth ensemble competition. The concerts will be at the Unitarian Church on Fee Lane and all will be at 2:00 PM Here are the dates:
October 24th, 2010

March 13th, 2011
Our October concert is completely filled but there are still openings on the March concert for those of you who wish to play. Please consult our Program Chair, Lilin Chen at lilchen@indiana.edu .

The CCMA youth competition invites student ensembles of any instrumentation to apply. This juried competition will be held on January 20th, at the U.U. Church at 2:00. There will be monetary awards for winners as well as an opportunity to perform in a CCMA concert the following week on February 6th. Applications should be submitted to me by January 21st. Please talk this up with all the music students you know and encourage them to apply. The application form is on this web site.

June, 2010

Summer Greetings!
I would like to let you know that our first concert this coming fall will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church on October 24 at 2:00 PM. The program is not completely filled for this program. If you are interested in performing on it, please contact our program chairman, Lilin Chen at lilchen@indiana.edu, or myself, at ccmachamber@gmail.com. This is a good time to get together with other players to decide what you would like to play.
The date for our annual Youth Competition is January 30 and the concert featuring the winners will be the following Sunday, February 6. Both will take place at the U.U. church. Please mark your calendars for these dates.
Meanwhile, I hope you have a great summer!
Best wishes,

2010 Summer newsletter

CCMA Summer Newsletter May 2010
We are closing out our year on a high note. An audience of between 60 and 70 people attended a wonderful concert by John Winninger, cello, and Diane Rivera, piano, at the Unitarian Church on the first Sunday afternoon of spring vacation. Earlier in the year CCMA held an ensemble competition for high school students. Twenty-three students participated. These amazingly talented students were featured in a well-attended concert at the Unitarian Church in February. It was a heart-warming occasion to hear these dedicated young musicians perform.
The board and I have plans for next year which include three concerts, one in October, a youth concert in February, and a third concert in March/April.
Two new members have joined our board: Carol Huffman as Treasurer and Lilin Chen as Program Coordinator. I continue as President and will administer the youth competition and the subsequent Youth Concert. I count on all of you to help spread the word to high school students you know next fall.
One of our goals next year is to formulate a master list of the donors, members, and performing members of CCMA. Board member (and Secretary) Carol Voelker is assisting me on this project. We are currently working from several lists -- some have snail-mail addresses but no email addresses and some have only email addresses. We need a list which incorporates these and, hopefully, includes email addresses for everyone. Communicating by our CCMA blog and by email will make publicity cheaper and more efficient. In addition, our current web site lists former performing members, many of whom have moved, but some ,we hope, will be interested in performing next year. We would like to up-date this list, currently on our web site. This would enable instrumentalists who wish to get together this summer get in touch with each other. To facilitate this, I would request your help: Please email me at ccmachamber@gmail.com or ruth.boshkoff@gmail.com and let me know if you wish to be a member, a concert listener, a donor, or a performer in the fall. Please also include your home address and email address. This list will be a time-consuming chore, but it is necessary for us to move forward as an organization. We count on your help and cooperation in getting it done.
Thanks to all of you who have attended our concerts this past year and also to those who have re-joined our organization. You will be happy to know that our dues will remain one of the very best bargains in the Bloomington arts community in the fall!
Happy summer, and see you in September!
Ruth Boshkoff, President, CCMA
