2010 Summer newsletter

CCMA Summer Newsletter May 2010
We are closing out our year on a high note. An audience of between 60 and 70 people attended a wonderful concert by John Winninger, cello, and Diane Rivera, piano, at the Unitarian Church on the first Sunday afternoon of spring vacation. Earlier in the year CCMA held an ensemble competition for high school students. Twenty-three students participated. These amazingly talented students were featured in a well-attended concert at the Unitarian Church in February. It was a heart-warming occasion to hear these dedicated young musicians perform.
The board and I have plans for next year which include three concerts, one in October, a youth concert in February, and a third concert in March/April.
Two new members have joined our board: Carol Huffman as Treasurer and Lilin Chen as Program Coordinator. I continue as President and will administer the youth competition and the subsequent Youth Concert. I count on all of you to help spread the word to high school students you know next fall.
One of our goals next year is to formulate a master list of the donors, members, and performing members of CCMA. Board member (and Secretary) Carol Voelker is assisting me on this project. We are currently working from several lists -- some have snail-mail addresses but no email addresses and some have only email addresses. We need a list which incorporates these and, hopefully, includes email addresses for everyone. Communicating by our CCMA blog and by email will make publicity cheaper and more efficient. In addition, our current web site lists former performing members, many of whom have moved, but some ,we hope, will be interested in performing next year. We would like to up-date this list, currently on our web site. This would enable instrumentalists who wish to get together this summer get in touch with each other. To facilitate this, I would request your help: Please email me at ccmachamber@gmail.com or ruth.boshkoff@gmail.com and let me know if you wish to be a member, a concert listener, a donor, or a performer in the fall. Please also include your home address and email address. This list will be a time-consuming chore, but it is necessary for us to move forward as an organization. We count on your help and cooperation in getting it done.
Thanks to all of you who have attended our concerts this past year and also to those who have re-joined our organization. You will be happy to know that our dues will remain one of the very best bargains in the Bloomington arts community in the fall!
Happy summer, and see you in September!
Ruth Boshkoff, President, CCMA
