CCMA annual Ensemble Competition

The CCMA competition for high school ensembles took place last Sunday in the U.U. church. Judges were Steven Pratt, Paul Hartin, and Marian Bates. There were 8 ensembles competing and a total of 38 musicians involved. The judges and I heard repertoire from Scheidt to Houston Bright with everything in between and enjoyed it all. The judges awarded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. prize and 2 honorable mentions, and recommended that you be able to hear them all too.
To that end, I will be featuring all of these participants in a concert next Sunday, February 6, at 2:00 at the U.U. church.
Please come and support these capable musicians. They are the performers, listeners, and arts-lovers of tomorrow!

Our final concert of this year will be on March 13 at the U.U. church. It will honor and memorialize our founder and great supporter Hans Tischler. Please contact me if you would like to play or sing in this concert.
Best wishes,
Ruth

Greetings,
Happy New Year to all!
For some time now CCMA has held juried solo competitions for high school musicians in January. The competition has afforded students an opportunity to perform before a jury and receive evaluations and pointers for improvement. For many, this was their dress rehearsal for the ISSMA competitions. Winners also received cash awards. Last year the competition was opened to all instrumentalists performing in ensembles. A week after the competition all students subsequently performed in a wonderful CCMA concert at the U.U. Church.

This year, On January 30, CCMA is again holding an ensemble competition and I am eager to have another youth concert on February 6 at the U.U. Church. Please spread the word to all the young people and music teachers you know. The application is on our web site: www.ccmachamber.org This is a wonderful opportunity for us to encourage our young musicians.

I would like to remind you that our March 13 concert will be in memory of Hans Tischler. Hans and Eve List founded CCMA in 1975 and Hans ran the organization for many years after Eve's death. It would be wonderful if some of our members who knew and admired Hans were able to perform in the March 13 concert. Please get in touch with me if you would like to do this.

Finally, on behalf of CCMA, I would like to extend our sympathy to the family of Bob Bent. Bob was a long-time member of CCMA and played 'cello frequently in earlier years.

Best wishes,
Ruth Boshkoff, President, CCMA

Hans Tischler

Dear CCMA friends,
We were all very sad to hear of the passing of Hans Tischler. one of CCMA's most loyal and hard-working friends. Hans and Eve List were founding members of our organization and Hans was president for many years. He and his wife Alice ran the organization and organized many wonderful concerts. Until just recently Hans could be relied upon to continue sharing his wisdom with the various presidents who followed his tenure. He was a wonderful man and we will miss him.
We are dedicating our March 13 concert to his memory and hope to have many of you there, either as performers or listeners.
If you would like to participate in the program, please contact me. Our new web address is http://www.ccmachamber.org. My blog is http://communitychambermusicassociation.blogspot.com/
